Interlibrary Loan

Due to limited availability during COVID-19 closures, interlibrary loan requests cannot be filled at this time.

Interlibrary loan requests may be submitted in person, by calling the Information Desk at 860-444-5805 ext. 2, or by submitting the form at the bottom of the page.

What is interlibrary loan?
When you've searched our catalog and you don't find what you are looking for, let us try and get it for you from another library. Through our Interlibrary Loan Service (ILL), we can request materials from other libraries in the State of Connecticut.

Who can use this service?
This service is available to Waterford residents and non-resident customers with valid library cards.
All ILL items must be picked up and returned at the Waterford Public Library.

Does it cost anything?
There is no fee for this service.

How long will it take to get the item I need?
Please allow an average of ten (10) business days for items to arrive. We will contact you when the item arrives.

What can I borrow?
Mostly books. Please note, some materials are not available through ILL, such as entertainment DVDs and reference materials. It is also very difficult to obtain best sellers and other books published within the last 12 months.

How many items can I request through interlibrary loan?
Customers may have up to five (5) ILL requests in our system at one time.

What is the loan period?
The usual loan period for an ILL item is three weeks.

Please use the form below to submit your interlibrary loan request. If you have any additional questions, please call the library at 860-444-5805, ext. 2.
