On August 6, 2020, Hurricane Isaias struck this portion of the Connecticut coast and toppled a large white pine tree, which fell on the upper ramp of the fishway, severely damaging the aluminum sections. The Town of Waterford received a grant from the National Fish & Wildlife Foundation to repair the damaged portions of the fishway. The work was completed in December of 2022 by Schumack Engineered Construction of Clinton. The CT DEEP Fisheries Division donated the aluminum sections to replace the damaged ones.
