CLIMATE CHANGE, VULNERABILITY, RISK ASSESSMENT AND ADAPTATION STUDY

Waterford was awarded  $175,000 in Community Development Block Grant- Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funds. This program is administered by the Connecticut Department of Housing on behalf of the US Department of Housing and Urban Development. The funds were granted to help Waterford assess the potential impacts of rising seas, storms and increased rainfall on public infrastructure and natural resources.   The study will provide the Town with information and tools to prioritize capital projects and increase resiliency.

This project began in September of 2016 and will end in September of 2017. A working group of staff and members of Town Boards and Commissions was formed to provide technical feedback to the consultant, Kleinfelder, Inc. A community workshop was held on May 24, 2017 to present the work that had been done to date and to solicit feedback on priorities the Town should consider.
