CLIMATE CHANGE, VULNERABILITY, RISK ASSESSMENT AND ADAPTATION STUDY

Waterford was awarded  $175,000 in Community Development Block Grant- Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funds. This program is administered by the Connecticut Department of Housing on behalf of the US Department of Housing and Urban Development. The funds were granted to help Waterford assess the potential impacts of rising seas, storms and increased rainfall on public infrastructure and natural resources.   The study will provide the Town with information and tools to prioritize capital projects and increase resiliency.

This project begins in September of 2016 and will continue through September of 2017.  We will host multiple public meetings throughout the year.  Information about upcoming meetings and study results will be posted on this page.

A working group of staff and members of Town Boards and Commissions has been formed to provide technical feedback to the consultant, Kleinfelder, Inc. This group met on September 28, 2016 to discuss the project goals and schedule. The meeting presentation is available below.  Meeting minutes will be posted soon.

We will host an open forum to discuss this project on May 24, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at the Waterford Town Hall. Community Resilience Workshop Press Release
