WEEKLY GARBAGE

Christmas Trees will be picked up on your regular scheduled garbage day during the week of January 17 – January 20.  Monday is a holiday – so both Monday & Tuesday garbage and Christmas Trees will be picked up on
Tuesday.  No appointment is necessary.

Public Works provides weekly curbside collection of garbage.

• All pickups MUST be curbside by 7:30 AM
• If you have more than one rolling cart (the big blue garbage can) or if the location of your kart is near any obstructions – please allow 3 feet on the sides of the kart so that the cart can be picked up without any problems.  (i.e. if it is near a fence, your mailbox, or another versa-kart.)
• Please be sure all obstructions are away from the curb on collection day like a portable basketball hoop. If this is on Town Of Waterford property it is not the responsibility of the Town, and it needs to be removed.

SINGLE STREAM RECYCLING INFORMATION

Single Stream Recycling has changed the way we pick up your recyclables!!  Each household will receive a new Green recycling cart, which takes the place of the blue bins.  Your recyclables will be picked up every other week.  All of your recyclables can be placed in the kart together with no recycling separation required.  Everything goes in one kart.  

The Town of Waterford is very excited about offering this program to its residents.  This system is more efficient, saves the Town of Waterford money and reduces worker injuries.  Every recyclable you place in the kart can help your community!!

BI-WEEKLY PICK UP OF GREEN RECYCLING KARTS

ITEMS NOT ACCEPTED IN THE GREEN RECYCLING KART:

Corrugated Cardboard

Corrugate Cardboard can be broken down and placed in your green cart for bi-weekly pickup.  Please don’t jam the cardboard into the cart too tightly as it may not empty properly.

Corrugated Cardboard can also be dropped off at any of the five (5) locations throughout the Town of Waterford.  They are as follows:

• Transfer Station - 1000 Hartford Road (During regular business hours - listed here.)
• Waterford Beach Park - Great Neck Road
• Cohanzie Fire House - Dayton Road
• Quaker Hill Fire House - Old Colchester Road
• Oswegatchie Fire House - Boston Post Road

You may not leave large boxes on the curbside for the driver to break down.  This is not their responsibility.

Yard Waste / Leaf Pick-ups

These pickups happen every other Thursday, by appointment only.  Please call the office with your address.  Our Yard Waste collection will be on the alternative Thursday from your recycling collection week. 

Your yard waste or leaves should be in the brown bio-degradable bags. If you want to use a plastic container that you have, that is fine, but please make sure the office notes that so the drivers know what they are looking for when arriving at your home.  We will not pick up any yard waste or leaves in plastic bags.   We also do not accept or pick up any grass clippings.  This is a State law and we must follow this important rule.  Small amounts of brush will be collected as long as it is tied and bundled in sections no longer than 4 feet in length.  We will not pick up debris from tree removal.  We ask that no resident rake their leaves into the street or down the catch basin drains as this will cause problems with the drainage in your area.

Bulky Waste Curbside Collection

$20/per appointment for regular residential units. Certain items will have additional fees, these items are:  appliances, tires, couches, loveseats, overstuffed chairs, mattress & box springs.  These fees will be in addition to the appointment charge.  All fees need to be paid in advance and appointments will be scheduled once payment is received. Appointments are scheduled for every other Tuesday, and we accept up to 20 appointments.
