  • The purpose of the inspection process is to ensure that all work is inspected for compliance with the applicable building codes prior to being concealed by the next phase of work.
  • Please note it is the responsibility of the permit holder to coordinate and schedule any required inspections.
  • Inspections will not be scheduled until all required permits are in order.
  • 24 hours notice is typically needed to schedule an inspection.  It is recommended that 48 hours notice be provided during peak construction months.

Other Inspections

  • Inspection(s) may be required by the building department prior to the issuance of a permit to assess existing conditions and better understand the scope of work.
  • Any time a question or concern comes up during the construction process.
  • Progress inspections if requested and if time is available.
  • Property Maintenance Inspections (when necessary)
  • Third Party Special Inspections may be required for specialty work, larger commercial projects or other complex projects regardless of size. (building official’s discretion in accordance with Chapter 17 of the International Building Code)

Pools

  • Conduit (bedded in trench)
  • Bonding (lights, slab reinforcing, pool equipment, metal pool frame)
  • Final / CO (including fencing / barriers / gates / ladders and alarms)
  • (when the construction is considered to be complete)

Decks

  • Piers / Footings (when forms for footing are in place prior to concrete pour)
  • Rough Frame (prior to decking being placed if framing will be inaccessible for the final)
  • Final Inspection (when the construction is considered to be complete and prior to use or occupancy)
